Nice to see that they are drivable, too, not just a museum piece. Although women have made inroads in our lifetime, it would be a validation if ever we will have our first woman president.
This is a very enlightening and interesting post. Glad you spent a day there and shared the tour with us. Even though not all original I like that purple one best. My favorite color. Can't believe you didn't honk that snake. ;)
The reason I was originally hired by NPS is because I'm a woman, the hiring preference at the time. So I am grateful to all the women before me that fought for our rights. And to all of us who continue to have to fight. I'm sure they would be shocked to learn we still don't have a woman president, but glad one has finally been nominated:) Looks like you two really enjoyed all the history:) That church certainly has the primo location.John and Pam (ohtheplacestheygo.wordpress.com)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10853924678665624403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309293625176086078.post-25983638971248371632016-08-13T18:05:51.310-04:002016-08-13T18:05:51.310-04:00Those cars are wonderful!! This is an amazing museum and tour - so hoping we can see it next month. I find it incredible that the year I graduated from high school - 1973 - women could not have a credit card without their husband or father on the account. This changed the following year with the passing of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. We still have a ways to go. Love the serendipity of your timing and the street name!!!Jodee Gravelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02247098923871155546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309293625176086078.post-91925130919968007522016-08-13T16:55:40.070-04:002016-08-13T16:55:40.070-04:00I would love to have one of those cars:) Clearly,...I would love to have one of those cars:) Clearly, I need to spend more time exploring he region I grew up in.Chuck and Anneke's RV travelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01929384797592263167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309293625176086078.post-37505772075073972272016-08-13T15:02:19.450-04:002016-08-13T15:02:19.450-04:00The patriarchs had their positions so well protect...The patriarchs had their positions so well protected and kept women in their place so effectively for so long, it is incredible to learn how women finally were able to change their position. Very thought provoking post, and I can't help but remember the brave women who began the movement in England and suffered horrible injustices for it.

Most young women of today have no idea how it was. In my early working years I wanted to get out of the secretarial field and into a position that had better upward mobility. I was actually told at the interview how highly qualified I was, but that they would give the position to a man because he would be supporting a family. I'm 75, and to have happened in my lifetime is totally unforgiveable. By the way, I worked for the federal government but it was probably worse in some private companies.Gypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18052445200220681513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4309293625176086078.post-81601781700017656132016-08-13T14:28:52.210-04:002016-08-13T14:28:52.210-04:00The historic park is definitely well worth a visit...The historic park is definitely well worth a visit, looking at these photos.
