Site 330 Fort Wilderness Campground
Disneyworld
We did go over to the astronomer’s last night and there was a window for us to see the Pleiades, Cassiopeia and Jupiter, 2 of its bands and 3 of its moons. Within about 10 minutes the clouds had closed that window so we drove the roads nighthawk hunting. Though we didn’t get great looks at them, there were 8 or 10 at various points feeding along the road. Or at least we think they were nighthawks. They didn’t look like burrowing owls the best we could tell but it’s pretty tough in the dark even in a slow moving car with headlights. They fly off immediately.
This morning we had to leave Kissimmee Prairie with too many things undone which will require a return visit. It seems like I say that about a lot of places we stay.
What a beautiful exit. What a beautiful place. One of the things I may not have mentioned that I love THE most is that it is so quiet here. There are very few man made sounds. Just the prairie and those who live in it. We noticed that there weren’t even any airplane noises. How many other places can you say that about?
The trip to Orlando and the massive Disney complex Is happily uneventful.
We get set up in site 330 which is mighty narrow. FHU though and the nicest bathrooms I’ve seen in any campground. We don’t set much up as you can see. No bikes off the car, no kayaks off, no mat or chairs out. We are off to spend David’s birthday in the Magic Kingdom.
Those of you who follow us know that last year 3 days after his birthday he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and this past year has been the worst of his life. So I wanted him to celebrate being alive this year and what better place to do it.
So here are a few pictures from his birthday. I’ll try to do more when we aren’t so busy having FUN!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID, YOUR BIRTHDAY IS TODAY!!
On the boat from Fort Wilderness to the Magic Kingdom. Looking pretty
happy!
Here we go!
Birthday dessert! He chose this over cake. Can you believe it??
Well over their Carrot Cake since I haven’t had time to bake him one of THE cakes. Perhaps to come???
Whirling in the tea cups. This was before he started madly spinning the cup for the wildest ride anybody has ever had at the Mad Hatter’s party.
A perfect close to a magical day, talking with Carrie in front of Cinderella’s Castle.
Birthday party continues tomorrow!!
Happy Birthday! I'm so glad you got to spend it on the happiest place on earth....it's my favorite too!
ReplyDeleteahhhhh FHU - full hookups... jeeeeeeeeez

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday David...may you have many many more happy days ahead of you. You guys made Disney look like so much fun. One day we may just get there too. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday David, hope you have a very happy and healthy year ahead. We camped in Fort Wilderness years ago with a tent and our two children, it was expensive for us but we loved it.

What a great way to spend a birthday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday David! What a great place to celebrate. I'd have chosen the ice cream too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to celebrate your birthday...."The Happiest Place on Earth"
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, David! And Celebrating it with Mickey, what fun! We've been to the Disney parks several times; usually between Thanksgiving and Christmas when the parks are relatively quiet, and yet, all the decorations were up, so we enjoyed the holiday spirit without the crowds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a change, from the magic of the prairie to the Magic Kingdom. What a great way to spend a birthday! Happy Birthday David!
ReplyDeleteWe agree the comfort stations are the nicest we've ever seen. We were in site 316 two years ago. It was so close to the boats.
I'd say have a ball, but I already know you are. :c)
Celebration indeed!! I certainly vote for that!!

Fantastic! Dad's looking mighty fine these days - sure wish I'd been there for the excitement and the sundaes!! :) I hope this is a better year than the last; I have a good hunch it will be. I laughed out loud thinking about him madly turning the teacups - he's a wild one ;) Lovely picture of the castle - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AGAIN to Pops! On another note - beautiful prarie clouds and just like Carolyn...ohhh FHU - full hook-ups! You can tell I'm not a fulltimer. Enjoy the rest of Disney and wait for the 'real cake' til I come visit again...!

Happy, Happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday David, we were in the Magic Kingdom yesterday also and we must have seen the same fireworks show. Keep on having fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated birthday David.
ReplyDeleteGreat place to enjoy your birthday - you're catching up to me. Last year you were .9253 of my age. This year you are .9263 of my age. Assuming a linear rate, you will catch up to me when I'm 144. Thereafter, you will be my older brother. Let's hope we make it - it's worth the price.
ReplyDeleteSherry...will you still be at the Fort Friday? We arrive Friday for the weekend and would love to say HI! Had a great day kayaking today with Bill Nancy Gin and Syl :-). Drop me an email if you have time to say hi at the Fort.
