No More Blog Posts - UPDATE
I am posting this directly from blogger since as of 9pm tonight I can no longer post from Live Writer. I get the same error as I did in May of this past year when Google and Microsoft had their rift and it took 10 days or so for Live Writer to work again. A group of volunteers coincidentally launched the new open source Writer yesterday known as OWL.
If anyone else is able to publish from either the 2012 version of Windows Live Writer or the new Open Live Writer please let me know. Or if you have heard when or if they are going to fix this.
And I was only 4 days behind.................there go my efforts at getting caught up.
Here's a dawn picture from the post I can not publish of one of the most beautiful dawns and sunrises I have ever experienced. My frustration level with blogging in total is pretty high at this point.
UPDATE: I've had a number of people say they just use blogger so the Live Writer thing isn't a problem. I am obviously using blogger for this post and this update. I find it cumbersome and without the really fine customization of Live Writer. I'm just not willing to work even harder to get things published so if Live Writer doesn't return, I will probably quit blogging until I have the desire or willingness to go to the trouble of moving to Word Press where I understand Live Writer still works. If you use Live Writer with Word Press and it works great, please let me know.

Bayfield Bunch Al just wrote about the problem too.
ReplyDeleteNope. Tried a simple 1 sentence 1 photo post. Made me log in, which I did, then still got the not found message. Sigh and big bummer. I hate blogger
ReplyDeleteso annoying. . .hopefully they will resolve it soon. . .
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your frustration with blogging. Technology is wonderful when it works like we want:) That is a spectacular sunrise...Wow!
ReplyDeleteHaving only worked on the Wordpress platform, I can't relate to the issues everyone is having. I hope you are all able to resolve it soon, as there are a lot of great blogger's out there on Google.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous picture of the sunrise! Sorry about your blogging problems!
ReplyDeletexxxooo
Frustration indeed but hey, you got a totally spectacular sunset:))
ReplyDeleteI'm still using Live writer, but I don't use Blogger, I use WordPress and am hosted at sonic.net. So far I've been immune to these problems. I agree high tech sucks some times. :O)
ReplyDeleteI know many folks use Live Writer, but I have always posted from Blogger. I only type the post once and hit PUBLISH, and I'm done. I could never see why anyone would want to add more steps, although I think I understand that if you post a lot of photos you can do it easier in LW. I hope the problems get fixed soon and you can be a happy blogger again.
ReplyDeleteSorry!!! Know you are beyond frustrated:o(( If misery loves company...just know we haven't resolved our Verizon issue either!!! It's amazing how quickly technology can break things, but how slowing technology can fix things!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your weather has improved a great deal so just enjoy all your free non-blogging time;o)))
Gorgeous dawn ... sorry about Blogger. Haven't checked yet, but I imagine I will have the same problem. And that will put paid to my blogging as well.
ReplyDeleteWell since we're not doing anything fun and therefore not blogging, I hadn't noticed a problem with LW. I just tried a test post and got an error message asking me for my password. The last time that happened, it never would work, so I didn't bother to try.
ReplyDeleteWhen this happened before Rick suggested we try posting through Blogger again because they had made improvements and it was much easier than it used to be. I did try and found it much easier than it used to be and if I remember correctly, even the pictures posted quicker. However, I went back to LW and never used it again. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
How obnoxious about the blogger :( So annoying when what should just run smoothly does not. That is a beautiful sunrise for sure. I hope the problems resolve soon!
ReplyDeleteWas that sunrise yesterday (Thur)? If it was, it was so beautiful all the way up here to Michigan!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunrise! That's a shame you're having so trouble with Live Writer...makes me glad I've always done all my blogging directly in Blogger! Fingers crossed that you come up with a solution!
ReplyDeleteDang. I've never had a problem posting directly through Blogger itself. Never tried LW, so don't know. Need to catch up myself, not much to post, but we're getting closer to the end :)
ReplyDeleteI lost Live Writer a couple of months ago when a viscous virus (that my anti virus program didn't catch) forced me to reset all of my computer's drivers. I tried to re-download LW and got the password problem, too. I've sucked it up and gone back to using Blogger because I'd hate to stop blogging, I enjoy doing it too much.
ReplyDeleteI haven't done a post this week but Jim tried the new Open Live Writer yesterday and could not log in. Let's hope it gets straightened out soon.
ReplyDeleteFor only posting one photo, you sure picked a beauty!
Same problem here. I wrote a post last night, but can't get it published. :(
ReplyDeleteI think Live Writer is a goner, that's what this article seems to be saying.
ReplyDeletehttp://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/12/microsoft-open-sources-live-writer-beloved-but-abandoned-blogging-tool/
I tried downloading the open sourced version, with no success. It's unfortunate that Windows won't maintain the software.
Gorgeous sunrise! I hope this problem doesn't stop you from blogging. I'd miss you greatly. I'm still using LW with WordPress and hope it keeps working. May this problem get worked out.
ReplyDeleteWe just do our posts through Blogger and haven't been having any problems. Hope you can get your issue sorted out soon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunrise by the way!
I just read something about having to down load Open Live Writer...to work along with live writer..any one know about this?..not sure I knew what they were talking about..
ReplyDeleteSeriously bummed at this news. I hope they get it together soon so we can all resume reading your wonderful posts with your great pictures! It shouldn't have to be so difficult.
ReplyDeleteI was never able to figure out Live Qrite so just used blogger. I sure will miss seeing where you are and what you're doing...can you keep us posted where you are on facebook?
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm going to have to track down these people at LW and light a fire under them to get things fixed - because your not blogging is UNacceptable! I've always just used blogger but agree it can be cumbersome with photos sometimes - always thought it was just me :-) Besides, you have to save all your adventures so you don't forget them :-))))
ReplyDeleteI am clueless about this issue:( I have always used blogger and MS word for posting and so far so good.
ReplyDeleteHope LW gets corrected because I need your blogs so I can live vicariously thru you guys! Enjoy the keys.
ReplyDeleteSwitch to Wordpress and post via email, you can format the email as you wish and WP posts it for ya.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't blog but I do comment occasionally though that's a pain because Windows Explorer stopped letting me comment for some unknown reason so I have to re-open in Chrome to comment. So "I feel your pain" and will miss your blogs while they're paused - hope it's short.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up after being away from the computer for a couple of days -- I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such terrible problems posting! That is an astonishingly beautiful dawn photo at Curry Hammock. I sure hope you're going to be able to post soon so that we can see the rest of what you were planning to share with us!
ReplyDeleteI've not had problems with composing blogs on Blogger, but I do limit my length of a post.
ReplyDeleteI have had a problem lately where Blogger insists I identify photo captchas on literally every new post, and it just eats up time.
Give it a few days.
