Silver Spring Maryland Afternoon in Africa – A Plea For Gorillas
Finishing Our Morning in Asia
Time out from our last days in Disney World to turn our attention to the most important thing going on right now in our world.
THURSDAY
What are the people in this picture so happy about other than Bruster’s of course?
They are Celebrating Celia!!
Carrie called just after 9 yesterday morning telling me I was now a grandmother. That was pretty surprising since when I’d talked to her on Tuesday she’d said not much had changed from last week. So she drove herself into work on Wednesday in downtown DC.
But by 9pm she was at the hospital in full labor and Celia Claire was born at 2:15 am on Thursday It was a totally natural child birth. Way to go Carrie!
Celia weighed 6 lbs 15.8 oz and is 21 3/4” long. We think she’s gorgeous of course. And we’re not the least bit biased.
After getting Carrie’s call, we cancelled all the appointments we had that day, well except for the one I forgot to cancel until it was four hours past my appointment time. I cancelled that on the drive to Maryland.
We quickly got organized and were on the road by noon to meet our new grandaughter.
The trip is only 133 miles but you have to go around the Washington DC beltway which always takes FOREVER. So when we got to Culpepper we stopped to toast Celia and her parents and prepare for the ridiculous beltway traffic. Celia has lots of Brusters ice cream to look forward to with Gramma and Grandpa.
When we arrived Celia was about 14 hours old and her daddy was handing her to her Mama for feeding. At this point both Carrie and Matthew have been up since Wednesday morning, almost 36 hours.
Of course after dinner or whichever of her meals it was, she’s sound asleep. Mom is smiling. Dad is gazing at his little girl.
Happy Birth Day sweet little Celia!!
Welcome to the World!
We can’t wait to help show it to you.
FRIDAY
We head back over to the hospital on Friday in the late morning for another visit with the new family.
Everyone has to have their time with Celia. Her grandmother Joan knows just how to roll her little cart back and forth.
My turn while Carrie opens more gifts. Of course these are all for Celia but she’s a little too young to open them herself.
Grandpa’s turn. This little girl evokes a lot of smiles.
Since Celia is sleeping now, we think it’s time to head back to the house so that perhaps they can all get some seriously needed rest.
The wheel of life is turning for this little family
so surrounded by love for each other and by the love of their families.
This is life at its very best!
We all sure do love you Celia Claire
Congratulations to you all. Everyone looks so happy!
